C9 Thermopolymerized Petroleum Resin R-120 is a general-purpose aromatic hydrocarbon resin produced by thermal polymerization of purified C9 fractions from ethylene by-product streams. With a softening point of 110–120°C (Ring & Ball) and Gardner color 10–12 measured at 1:1 resin : toluene (w/w), it offers good thermal stability, low acid value, and rapid dissolution in aromatic and chlorinated solvents. As a foundational tackifying resin, R-120 is specifically formulated for traditional solvent-based adhesive systems—including contact adhesives, universal glues, no-nail adhesives, and primer/sealer basecoats—rather than EVA hot-melt applications.
Standard Gardner Color: 10–12 (1:1 in Toluene, ASTM D1544) — suitable for general-purpose light amber formulations
Softening Point: 110–120°C (R&B), delivering balanced heat resistance and processability
Excellent Solvency: Quickly dissolves in toluene, xylene, solvent naphtha, and ester solvents
Good Polymer Compatibility: Blends well with CR (chloroprene), SBS, NR, and alkyl resins in solvent systems
Low Acid Value & Good Chemical Resistance: Enhances storage stability of finished adhesives
Contact Adhesive (接著胶): Tackifier in neoprene-based contact cements for laminates, PVC, rubber, and panel bonding.
Universal Glue (万能胶): Improves initial tack, cohesion, and bond strength in multi-purpose solvent glues for metal, leather, rubber, and plastics.
No-Nail / Construction Adhesive (免钉胶): Provides high initial grab and gap-filling bond strength on wood, MDF, ceramic, and masonry.
Primers & Sealer Basecoats: Added to solvent-borne primers to promote substrate wetting and intercoat adhesion on porous or low-energy surfaces.
